LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 26, 2012) — More than 300 athletes on 16 qualifying teams will compete this weekend in the national championship game of the United States Quad Rugby Association.

The event, sponsored by Frazier Rehab Institute, has been conducted in Louisville for the past six years. Twelve of the qualifying athletes from this year’s nationals will be chosen to represent Team USA in the 2012 Paralympic Games.

The public is invited to attend the games at the Kentucky Exposition Center on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“This is a incredible event that disproves any myth anyone could have about physical impairment,” said Jill Farmer, tournament director. “These athletes are tough, and the game is intense, it is just a great sporting event.”

The United States Quad Rugby Association provides opportunity, support and structure for competitive wheelchair rugby to people with disabilities, according to a press release from the organization.
