Lexington, Ky. – Gathan Borden has been named vice president of marketing for VisitLEX, the Lexington region’s convention and tourism promotion agency.

Borden has been with the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau since 2007, most recently as the director of brand marketing and advertising.

During the past few years, Louisville has been seen on a number of lists from national and international organizations as top destination, including CNN and Lonely Planet.

Borden received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a double major in Business Management and Business Marketing from the University of Kentucky in 2001, and in May of 2009, he received his Master’s of Business Administration at Webster University. He will start his new position on July 20.

In his new role, Borden will be responsible for the overall brand management of VisitLEX and comprehensive advertising and marketing plans for leisure visitation as well as meetings and group sales. In addition, he will supervise the Lexington Visitor Center, all visitor information, public relations and communications, social media, and market research as appropriate.

“We are so pleased to welcome Gathan to VisitLEX,” said Mary Quinn Ramer, president of VisitLEX.  “Gathan is a true rising star in the destination marketing industry, and we are most fortunate to make him part of our team.  We are excited about the leadership he will bring to our brand.”
