To be featured in Kentucky Historical Society exhibit
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 30, 2015) — Mementos left at the Traveling Vietnam Wall when it visits Lexington next month could end up in a collection displayed at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
The Traveling Wall will be open to the public at the Kentucky Horse Park from July 9-12. Visitors are encouraged to leave photographs, flowers or other mementos to loved ones.
Staff of the Kentucky Historical Society will collect the mementos when the Traveling Vietnam Wall closes and determine which mementos are most appropriate for potential display and collection.
The Traveling Wall is an 80-percent scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. Eight feet high and 360 feet long, it provides an electronic locator to help visitors find the names of particular service members carved in the wall.
