The Council on Postsecondary Education is Kentucky’s statewide postsecondary and adult education coordinating agency charged with guiding the reform efforts envisioned by state policy leaders in the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997 and the Adult Education Act of 2000. The governor appoints the Council members, including 13 citizens, one faculty member and one student member.

Stronger by Degrees, the new strategic agenda for Kentucky’s postsecondary and adult education system, is powering a stronger Kentucky economy and improving the lives of Kentuckians through key areas – college readiness, student success, research, economic and community development, as well as efficiency and innovation.

“It’s an honor for the governor to appoint me to such an impactful council, one that’s responsible for developing the comprehensive and strategic agenda for postsecondary education across the state and ensuring adequate public funding for maximum effectiveness and efficiency,” Guilfoyle said. “I look forward to making a positive impact in this role and continuing to push for forward momentum across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

Guilfoyle has served on the board of the Northern Kentucky University Foundation since 1999. He has long been interested in Kentucky’s higher education system.
