Five Kentucky companies have been named to this year’s Fortune 500 list, an annual ranking of America’s largest companies by Fortune magazine. Humana of Louisville came in at No. 79.

Proponents of building new Ohio River bridges long have touted the economic benefits, from attracting companies to the region to creating construction jobs.

But in a sweeping study approved April 20 by the Federal Highway Administration, Kentucky and Indiana officials chose not to forecast whether the project will result in any permanent jobs, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal

The only analysis of bridge-related, long-term employment predicts nearly 18,000 positions in the next three decades in a five-county area in Kentucky and Indiana — although it doesn’t estimate exactly where those jobs would be, the paper says.

Gen Y graduates are more likely to launch startups, reports USA TODAY.

According to a 2012 report by the Kauffman Foundation, the largest entrepreneurial foundation in the U.S., 29.4 percent of entrepreneurs were 20 to 34 years old, and roughly 160,000 start-ups a month were led by Millennials in 2011, the paper reports.

As car owners downsize, the market is strong for their used S.U.V.s, reports the New York Times.

Old gas guzzlers don’t just disappear when their owners give them up. Many are quickly bought by someone else, sometimes before the dealer even has a chance to clean them up and put a for-sale sign in the window, the paper says.

Dealers and analysts say demand for the vehicles is steady and inventories are low, causing their values to stabilize or even increase.
