Governor announces appointments to Board of Elections, Board of Tax Appeals, Mine Safety Review Commission

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 14, 2012) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

John W. Hampton of Lexington has been named to the Board of Elections to serve for a term expiring April 1, 2016. He is an insurance agent at GCH Insurance Group. The appointment replaces Robert E. Gable, whose term has expired.
George W. Russell of Frankfort, a retired election consultant, has been reappointed to the Board of Elections to serve for a term expiring April 1, 2016.

•  M. Melinda Karns of Lexington has been named to the Kentucky Board of Tax Appeals to serve for a term expiring April 16, 2016. She is a CPA at Dulworth Breeding & Karns. Her appointment replaces William A. Hayes, whose term has expired.

• Cecil F. Dunn of Lexington has been designated chair of the Kentucky Board of Tax Appeals. He is an attorney and the chief executive officer of Lexington’s Hope Center Inc.

• David B. Sloan of Fort Mitchell was appointed to the Mine Safety Review Commission to serve for a term expiring May 23, 2016. This order is effective May 24, 2012. Sloan is an attorney at O’Hara, Ruberg, Taylor, Sloan and Sergeant. The appointment replaces Stephen A. Sanders, whose term has expired.
