EKU to host International Town & Gown Conference June 4-8

RICHMOND, Ky. (May 15, 2012) — Early next month, Eastern Kentucky University and the City of Richmond, in partnership with Berea College, will host the 2012 International Town & Gown Conference. The event will take place June 4-8 on the EKU campus.

The theme for the 2012 conference is “Town and Gown Partnerships for the Present and Future.” More than 400 attendees are expected representing educational institutions and communities through the United States, Canada and several other countries. Included will be representatives from institutions and communities in Europe, South America and Asia with which Eastern Kentucky University maintains exchange agreements.

The conference will include keynote addresses from top figures in higher education and community development. A variety of topics will be covered in presentations and open discussions including economic development, urban planning, city/university planning, community relations, student affairs, education, bioenergy, arts and culture and many more.
