“I’m pleased to have Mike join me in leading the Labor Cabinet,” said Ramsey. “His legislative experience, paired with his years of business experience, makes him a tremendous advocate for Kentucky workers.”

From January 2011 to January 2013, Nemes served as a State Representative for Kentucky’s 38th District. During that time, he served as co-chair of the House Labor and Industry Committee and a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Licensing and Occupations Committee.

“I look forward to working with Kentucky’s employers and workforce to foster and promote cooperative relations between the two for the welfare of both,” said Nemes.

Nemes worked 17 years for a soft drink bottler in Kentucky, where he served as a Teamster union steward. He then bought a bakery distributorship and grew the business, before selling it 13 years later. From there, he went to the construction industry as a project coordinator for an insulation company, where he received OSHA training and served with workers from the Heat and Frost Insulators Union.

Nemes and his wife, Angie, have four children and six grandchildren.
