Thompson takes reigns, AACH moves headquarters to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 17, 2012) — The American Academy on Communication in Healthcare, an organization at the forefront of research and teaching relationship-centered healthcare communication for more than 30 years, announced today that Lisa Thompson will fill the role of executive director.

“We’re ready to take this organization to the next level,” said AACH President Maysel Kemp White. “AMR Management Services responsiveness to our needs and Lisa’s expertise put us in a position to do just that.”

Thompson, hired in 2011 as a programs and education coordinator, brings significant experience in association management and marketing to the account executive role.

“AMR is dedicated to providing excellent service and top notch staff for our association management clients,” said Chief Operating Officer Nick Ruffin. “Lisa’s professionalism, attitude and ability will help AACH continue to build on its success.”

A 1989 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Thompson has held various marketing positions in the private sector. Before joining AMR, she spent 12 years with the National Tour Association in various roles.

The promotion of Thompson, who is based out of the AMR headquarters, to account executive precipitated a change of address for AACH. The Academy is now managed out of AMR’s office in downtown Lexington.

In her new position, Thompson will be responsible for overall staff supervision and day-to-day guidance of AACH programs. Lindsey Bettermann, who recently joined the AMR staff, will serve as the project coordinator for AACH and report to Thompson.

Bettermann, a graduate of Western Kentucky and Bradley University, will be responsible for compiling, editing and distributing AACH publications; coordinating continuing medical education credits for AACH courses and management of subscriptions to doc.com, an online learning tool to improve healthcare communication.
