St. Elizabeth Healthcare gifts $1M to YMCA of Greater Cincinnati

For Healthy Living Center in Northern Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 15, 2016) — The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati has received a $1 million gift from St. Elizabeth Healthcare to support the new Healthy Living Center in Burlington, Ky. The partnership is designed to enrich the patient experience, improve the health of the community, and help reduce the cost of healthcare.

Print“Our newly established transformative partnership with St. Elizabeth Healthcare will positively impact the health and wellness of Northern Kentucky residents for generations,” said Sandy Walker YMCA of Greater Cincinnati president and CEO. “We are so grateful for the $1 million naming gift for the St. Elizabeth Healthy Living Center at the R.C. Durr YMCA.”

The St. Elizabeth Healthy Living Center will bring together medical and fitness professionals to help individuals achieve the best possible healthcare and overall quality of life. The approach emphasizes a focus on prevention and lifestyle changes as an essential part of healthcare in the future.

“We are investing in the future health of Northern Kentucky,” said Garren Colvin, president & CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “This will be the region’s first healthy living center. The partnership is a further extension of bringing services directly to our community. Together, we will provide a broader array of services from an onsite St. Elizabeth physical therapy unit to a variety of chronic disease prevention and management resources. Partnerships such as this will help achieve our goal of making Northern Kentucky one of the healthiest communities in the country.”

The Healthy Living Center will serve as another option for physicians to refer patients to help them address risk factors, manage chronic diseases like diabetes, and improve symptoms. Whether a person is undergoing treatment, recovering from an illness or injury, or striving to improve his or her sports performance, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati and St. Elizabeth staff can provide assistance and support through a wide variety of programs and services.

Groundbreaking for the Healthy Living Center will occur this fall with an anticipated grand opening by summer of 2017.
