“Assembling the top workplace safety leaders from across the state each year provides us the opportunity to collaborate on best practices needed to keep employees safe,” Ramsey said. “I am delighted that Gov. Bevin and Lt. Gov. Hampton will be on hand to recognize the hard work that these men and women do every day to make sure that workplaces across the commonwealth are safe and productive.”

Founded in 1985, KSHN is a nonprofit, membership-based organization that has co-hosted the Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition with the Labor Cabinet. Each year, KSHN provides scholarships to eligible undergraduate and graduate college students. The scholarships are referred to as the Scholastic Achievement for Education Awards or “SAFE” Awards and are partially funded through a silent auction held during the conference.  Since 2005, $320,000 in SAFE Awards has been distributed.

This year’s conference will feature courses on topics such as fall prevention, fire prevention, first aid/CPR, and workers compensation, among others. There will also be tours of the Kentucky Truck Plant and UPS Worldport facilities. Business representatives from more than 40 companies from across Kentucky will be on hand to accept the Governor’s Safety and Health Award, which honors outstanding safety and health performance. There will also be opportunities for occupational safety and health professionals to network and the conference will culminate with the Governor’s Banquet on May 12, which features Gov. Bevin as the keynote speaker.
