Up 12.9% this year over last year
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 16, 2016) — The Greater Louisville Association of Realtors reported April sales up 4.9 percent over the same month last year, with 1,437 homes and condos sold, compared to 1,370 sold in April 2015.
Through April 2016 home sales are up 12.9 percent over the first four months from last year. The median price for all areas in 2016 is up 3.4 percent in 2016.
In Jefferson County the average price in April was $186,887 and the median was $151,500. For all MLS areas the inventory available properties was 21.8 percent lower than during the same time last year. In Jefferson County the decreased inventory of homes and condos for sale was 25.6 percent lower than in April 2015.
“The strong seller’s market is continuing in Louisville with inventory down 25 percent in Jefferson County compared to last year,” said GLAR president Greg Taylor. “Sellers whose homes are in move-in condition typically receive multiple offers. The median price year-to-date has advanced 3 to 4 percent with both low inventory and low mortgage rates.”
