BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (May 16, 2016) — Shannon Moore Vitale, a Hilliard Lyons Financial Consultant and Assistant Branch Manager, has been recognized by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce as the 31st recipient of the ATHENA Award.

Vitale was a founder of the Women’s Fund of South Central Kentucky, an initiative that has given more than $230,000 to organizations that make a positive impact on the lives of women and children in south central Kentucky, “now and forever.”

“As always, this year’s group of ATHENA nominees was incredibly strong for an award that honors such positive role models,” chamber Chairman Mark Iverson said. “We believe Shannon portrays every quality of a true ATHENA, and we are so proud she is such a significant part of the Bowling Green community.”

Vitale will be honored at the Chamber’s Excellence Awards Luncheon on Thursday at the Knicely Conference Center on the WKU campus. The event is the highlight of the Chambers’ Small Business Appreciation Month and will feature Vitale as a keynote speaker.

“We congratulate Shannon on this well deserved honor,” said Jim Allen, Hilliard Lyons’ Chairman and CEO. “She is not someone who seeks the limelight, but the work she is doing in her community is adding lasting value. And the ATHENA award will help bring attention to the Women’s Fund and its accomplishments.”

Hilliard Lyons, founded in 1854, operates more than 70 offices in 12 states. The firm specializes in planning issues that include education funding, business succession, retirement, and trusts and estates — to advise clients through life’s financial challenges.
