Bluegrass Classic Stockdog Trial to be held in Lexington

From Wednesday through Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 16, 2016) — The 2016 Bluegrass Classic Stockdog Trial will bring more than 600 dog and handler teams from across the country to Lexington from Wednesday through Sunday. The event, which is free and open to the public, will held at Masterson Station Park, from dawn to dusk each day.

This type of herding competition was made famous by the movie ‘Babe’, and has drawn thousands of dog handlers and spectators to the region during the past 54 years.

Spectators can bring their own dogs (on leashes) and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The event will feature several raffles and concessions will be available for purchase. Photography is allowed.

Also, the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday at Masterson Station Park. The two-day festival features more than 100 vendors, live animals, sheep shearing demonstrations and an amazing selection of classes and workshops.

Tickets are $5 and free to children 12 and under.
