New 100,000 s.f. warehousing facility to be built in Bardstown

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (June 4, 2012) — Bardstown Warehousing has announced that it will build a new 100,000 s.f. facility on a tract of land its owns in the Bardstown Industrial Park.

The new building on Withrow Court will be used as a distribution, warehouse and logistics center with possible manufacturing or assembly capabilities and will create five to 10 new permanent jobs, according to Chris Monin, president of Bardstown Warehousing.

“With our experience with distribution and logistics, we are seeing a demand for additional facilities in the region. This should fill the need for the next few years,” Monin said.

The $2 million project includes designs by Studio Kremer Architects and Horizon Engineering of Bardstown. It will be constructed by BCD, Inc. of Bardstown. Construction is expected to last seven months.

“As with all construction projects with BCD, our goal is to continue to provide construction jobs for all of our employees who are based in and around Nelson County,” said Michael Salsman, president of BCD.

The project will require equipment operators, carpenters, steel erectors, electricians and pipe fitters from the region, as well as requiring significant purchases of concrete, stone and other products from local vendors.

“As our local manufacturing facilities grow, so does the need for facilities like this,” said Kim Huston, president of the Nelson County Economic Development Agency. “I get calls every week from companies looking for warehousing or distribution space. Facilities like this are vital to the future of our economic development growth.”
