Roll Forming Corp. has broken ground on a 31,000-s.f. expansion of its existing 60,000-s.f. manufacturing plant in Shelbyville.
The metal products manufacturer utilizes roll forming metal technology to create products used in a broad range of applications, from transportation and construction to renewable energy and aerospace.
The $6.3 million expansion is the result of growth in the commercial aviation market. The company supplies aviation components that include leading edges for helicopter blades, airframe structural stringers that make up the fuselage of Boeing, Gulfstream, Cessna, and Lockheed Martin aircraft, and welded titanium seat tracks for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Roll Forming Corp. first began operations in Shelbyville in 1947 with three employees and currently has a staff of 220. The expansion is expected to create 30 new jobs.
RFC is the North American subsidiary of voestalpine AG, an Austrian company that is one of the largest roll forming groups in the world.
