Performance Feeds expands, moves manufacturing headquarters to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN (Dec. 21, 2016) — Performance Feeds announced the expansion of their distribution center and relocation of their manufacturing headquarters to 2361 Louisville Rd., Bowling Green, Ky. This project is a capital investment of $2.29 million and will create 30 new jobs over the next three years.

“We are grateful for Performance Feeds’ decision to relocate its primary production facility from Tennessee to Bowling Green,” said Gov. Bevin. “Performance Feeds has built a reputation as a dependable provider of nutritional cattle feed for nearly 15 years. It’s a testament to our south central region, booming agriculture industry and the Commonwealth as a whole that the company selected Kentucky in its search for a strong workforce and an environment supportive of future growth.”

Founded in 2002, Performance Feeds got its start when founder Tony Ferguson sought out a dependable source of nutrition to grow and support his stocker operation but was unable to do so. Performance Feeds was born when Ferguson began collaborating with Dr. Allen Stateler to develop higher quality beef feeds to increase daily gains and enhance profitability. Fifteen years later, Dr. Stateler continues to be an integral part of Performance Feeds’ mission to improve animal nutrition and profits for cattlemen across the southeast.

“In October of 2016 we, at Performance Feeds, made the decision to move a large part of our operations to the South Central Kentucky area. The diverse workforce, infrastructure, and vast cattle numbers in the region are only a few of the reasons for selecting Bowling Green, Ky. for our state-of-the-art feed and mineral production facility, and grain elevator,” Ferguson said. “Additionally, the tremendous cooperation from the state, county, and city officials aided in our management team’s decision to move into this new venue. We look forward to the opportunity to more efficiently service cattle producers of the south eastern United States and more effectively reach southern and western Kentucky cattlemen.”

Today, Performance Feeds is sold by 34 authorized retailers, and services farms all across Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and North Carolina. This project is part of Performance Feeds efforts to continually expand their footprint and offer services to the entire southeast United States.

Performance Feeds’ decision to move their primary production/manufacturing facility to the Louisville Road location in Bowling Green is based on the company’s desire to increase business opportunities in Kentucky, reduce transportation costs and tap into the larger labor force that South Central Kentucky offers.

“The types of products manufactured by Performance Feeds are integral to the success and growth of the agriculture industry – providing high quality nutritional products for the southeastern United States and for Kentucky’s growing livestock industry. We are excited Performance Feeds, a great example of an entrepreneurial success, is expanding their business here and adding their manufacturing headquarters to their Bowling Green operations. We look forward to their successful future in South Central Kentucky,” said Chamber President and CEO Ron Bunch.

Performance Feeds offers a variety of nutritional, mineral supplement and animal health products for farm livestock including horses, lamb, goat, sheep, swine and beef.

Performance Feeds partners with Performance Animal Health, LLC ensuring a full-service nutrition and health program for customers where custom health protocols for efficient growth and production is a top priority. Performance Feeds works with different animal health companies, including veterinarians, to develop and support customer needs for vaccine requirements to treatment options. A variety of prescription medications, antibiotics, dewormers, vaccines, ear tags and growth implants are offered in addition to their feed and mineral products.

“Bowling Green’s businesses are as diverse as the many people that work here. We are excited to celebrate the success of a company like Performance Feeds in our community and congratulate them on the expansion of their facility on Louisville Road,” said Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson.

According to their website, Performance Feeds adds a competitive edge to their nutritional, mineral supplement and animal health products by buying products in volume, saving money and passing those savings on to their customers.

“Our community and region has had and continues to have a strong agriculture industry,” said Mike Buchanon, Warren County Judge Executive. “Warren County is a great location for many types of industry and we are excited to announce this expansion project with Performance Feeds as they continue to grow their footprint across the southeast United States.”

Performance Feeds is the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce’s 14th economic development announcement in 2016 for a total of $463 million in capital investment and 703 new jobs.
