Dress for Success Lexington appoints 3 new board members, moves to new space

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 23, 2017): Dress for Success Lexington has relocated, and named three new members to its Board of Directors.

Diane Verhalen, the owner of an independent financial planning firm, Alliance Financial Planning, serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Dress for Success Lexington. Diane was an early supporter of the organization, and has served on the board for the past two and a half years. Along with her work for Dress for Success Lexington, Diane is a member of Commerce Lexington, the Professional Women’s Forum, the Junior League of Lexington, and the Downtown Lexington Corporation.

The Board’s new members include Nanci House, a partner at White, McCann & Stewart, PLLC in Winchester; Lindsay Hughes Thurston, Assistant Secretary of State; and Kathryn McGuire, owner and founder of Best Dressed Lex, LLC.

Currently serving in their second year on the board are Board members Candace French, Director of Human Resources at Software Information Systems, LLC., who serves as Vice-Chair of the organization; Tiffane Thompson, the Director of Marketing for Tempur-Pedic® at Tempur Sealy International, Inc., who serves as Treasurer; and Elizabeth Paul, Director of Business Services & Organizational Development at Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance (KEMI) in Lexington, KY, who serves as Secretary for the organization.
Board members serve two-year terms and are responsible for all fundraising and governance of the organization.

Co-founder Analisa Wagoner (non-voting board member), continues to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. “With the passion of Diane, our board chair, and the energy and enthusiasm of both the new and existing board members, I am confident that the community engagement of the organization will continue to increase as we transition into our new space, enabling us to expand the scope of our programs, and to serve even more women in the new year.”

Dress for Success Lexington has served over 450 women in its original location and is now serving clients and taking donations in its new location at 1165 Centre Parkway, Suite 100. A community open house is planned for March 2nd from 4 pm – 7 pm. Clients are served by referral only from community-based social service agencies and nonprofit organizations. In addition to providing clothing, Dress for Success Lexington addresses every phase of a woman’s career by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help her thrive in work and in life.
