OWENSBORO, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2017) — First Security Bank received the Organization of the Year Award from St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter at their fifth annual Friendship Dinner on Tuesday.

The award is in recognition of First Security Bank’s partnership with St. Benedict’s to help support their mission of providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where residents can have a warm place to sleep, eat, and address the barriers if becoming independent.

First Security Bank purchased new computers for their Learning Center, teaches financial literacy classes, makes food donations, and allows the shelter the use its parking lot during events to raise money.

Other awards from the event include: Friendship Award to Friends of Sinners; Servant Heart Award to Fran Bartley; St. Benedict Joseph Labre Award to Ernie Taliaferro; Food Team Award to Bridgepoint Church; and Team Award to St. Pius X Catholic Church.
