Wildcat Wardrobe career closet to help financially-strapped students dress for success

Grand opening Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2017) — The University of Kentucky Student Government Association (SGA) and the James W. Stuckert Career Center are teaming up to launch Wildcat Wardrobe, a career closet that offers students the opportunity to obtain professional clothes.

Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are encouraged to donate clean, gently worn professional clothing to the closet.

“Wildcat Wardrobe is aimed at alleviating the financial burden placed on students to purchase professional clothing for job interviews, internships or even full-time job opportunities after graduation,” said Student Body President Rowan Reid. “After seeing other Southeastern Conference student governments implementing these programs, we felt our students deserved better resources than we were previously offering.”

Wildcat Wardrobe will have a grand opening from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday in Blazer Dining Room 249. Free food and resume evaluations will be available for all students.

Wildcat Wardrobe will be open on a drop-in basis every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. For those students who may need accommodations regarding the timeframe, email [email protected] to schedule an appointment. Each student is allotted up to one outfit per visit, or three articles of clothing. Depending upon the Wildcat Wardrobe’s available inventory and other factors, students may encounter wait periods or limits on the number of visits allowed in a semester.
