LOUISVILLE – Construction is underway at CITADEL, a 130,000-s.f. self-storage facility unique to Louisville with 100% indoor temperature and humidity control, ideal for items that need to be stored in a climate regulated environment.

CITADEL is located in St. Matthews at 1403 Browns Lane and is scheduled to open in early 2018. The 3-story facility will have 990 units of various sizes available for short or long term rentals.

CITADEL will offer a covered loading and unloading zone and individual unit security, with each unit having its own PIN number for access tied to an individual alarm. The facility will also be the only one in Louisville with state-of-the-art designated wine storage.

“The self-storage industry has taken off and we wanted to be the first to design a unique and interesting facility that takes the trend to a new level in the region,” says Allen Schubert, the developer of the property. “We are thrilled to locate the facility in the St. Matthews area and thank the City of St. Matthews, the City of Louisville and Greater Louisville, Inc. for helping us make this project a reality.”

Schubert is also developing a similar property in Nashville, Tn., also called CITADEL, which is already under construction and expected to open in late 2017. Schubert is actively looking at additional locations in nearby cities to expand the concept further.

The architect for CITADEL is Potter and Associates of Louisville, Ky. and the contractor is JM Williams of Marietta, Ga.
