Keeneland appoints journalist Ed Prosser as European rep

LEXINGTON, KY (July 3, 2012) — Keeneland last week announced that noted racing journalist Ed Prosser has been named as its European representative, beginning July 1. He succeeds Tim Preston, who is retiring from the position after 23 years.

“Keeneland is tremendously proud of its strong ties to Europe, and the rich history we share with its horsemen,” said President-Elect Bill Thomason. “We welcome Ed to the Keeneland family, and look forward to his support in continuing to build on that legacy. At the same time, we express our thanks to Tim Preston for his many years of service during which he helped Keeneland cultivate loyal friendships and explore new avenues of growth with our European partners.”

Prosser has spent the past 15 years reporting on the European sales scene for publications such as the Racing Post, Thoroughbred Owner & Breeder and Horse & Hound.

He undertook the British Horseracing Board’s graduate development programme, where he worked at Epsom and Sandown racecourses, and will continue as a director of the London-based horse racing information and publicity company Racenews. Prosser is also a racehorse owner and breeder.

“It is a privilege to be asked to join the team at Keeneland, a company that has long been held in the highest regard throughout the bloodstock and racing worlds,” he said.  “European visitors have been synonymous with Keeneland’s success through much of its history and I look forward to helping continue that longstanding association.”
