Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 8, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin today made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Amanda Hege and Carolyn Hofe have been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists.

• Amanda Hege, of Lexington, is director of community outreach for the University of Kentucky Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition. She will represent licensed dietetic educators and serve for a term expiring July 15, 2021.
• Carloyn Hofe, of Lexington, is a registered dietitian with Hofe Nutrition Consults. She will represent state or local nutritionist programs/private practice and serve for a term expiring July 15, 2021.

The Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists administers applicable state statutes and monitors the needs of the consuming public. It licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of dietetics and nutrition. The Board recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality; and it conducts formal hearings and prosecutes by due process when necessary.

James Gooch, Jr. and Brandon Smith have been appointed to the Southern States Energy Board.

• James Gooch, Jr., of Providence, is State Representative for District 12. He will represent the Kentucky House of Representatives and serve for a term expiring February 8, 2019.
• Brandon Smith, of Hazard, is State Senator for District 30. Representing the Kentucky State Senate, he has been reappointed and will serve for a term expiring February 8, 2019.

The Southern States Energy Board (SSEB) is an interstate compact organization created in 1960 to enhance economic development and quality of life throughout the Southern states through innovations in energy and environmental programs and technologies. The Board promotes and recommends policies and programs that protect and enhance the environment without compromising needs of future generations. Sixteen southern states and two territories comprise membership of the SSEB. The Governor and a state legislator from the House and Senate of each member jurisdiction also serve on the Board.

Lesley Anna Reising has been appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Services and Supports for Individuals with an Intellectual Disability and Other Developmental Disabilities.

• Lesley Anna Reising, of Berea, is a community volunteer for individuals with developmental disabilities. She will represent individuals with developmental disabilities and serve for a term ending July 15, 2019.

The Kentucky Commission on Services and Supports for Individuals with an Intellectual Disability and Other Developmental Disabilities serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor and the General Assembly concerning the needs of persons with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities through developing a statewide strategy to increase access to community-based services and supports for persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.
