Kentucky to host Hemp Industries Association’s 24th national conference

Experts, researchers, entrepreneurs, farmers and policy makers convene to “Share the Vision”

hia_logoLEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 23, 2017) — The 24th Annual Conference of the Hemp Industries Association (HIA) will be held Sept. 9-11 at the Lexington Convention Center, the Kentucky Chapter of the Hemp Industries Association (KYHIA) announced today.

Experts, policy makers, farmers, researchers and entrepreneurs from around the world will convene to “Share the Vision,” in what is expected to be the largest crowd in the 24-year history of HIACON.

“Kentucky’s former Agriculture Commissioner and Kentucky Hemp Pilot Program pioneer turned Congressman, U.S. House Representative James Comer (R-KY), is expected to speak on national policy, which is a highlight given his primary sponsorship of the recently introduced Industrial Hemp Farming Act. H.R. 3530 is a bi-partisan bill to amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marihuana,” said Colleen Keahey, Executive Director of the Hemp Industries Association. “The conference exhibition area will be open to the public to educate and inspire consumers and entrepreneurs about the versatile applications of the rapidly emerging US hemp industry.”

Exhibitors include CW Hemp, Atalo Holdings, CV Sciences, Victory Hemp Foods, Sunstrand, Blue Circle Development, GenCanna, Dr. Bronner’s and Fresh Hemp Foods among others. Programming and seminars at the conference will cover a broad range of issues, such as hemp food science, agronomy and fiber science; industry economics and plant genetics; federal and state policy; cutting-edge cannabinoid research, hemp product manufacturing, and numerous research presentations. The conference also offers excellent opportunity for networking and business development.

“Lexington, Kentucky is an ideal location to once again host industry leaders from around the world at the national conference for the Hemp Industry Association,” said Chad Rosen, President of the Kentucky Hemp Industries Association. “Kentucky’s history of hemp production has led legislators, researchers, farmers, businesses and advocates to work in concert with one another to share in a common vision of how an industry utilizing all parts of this amazing commodity can work together right here in the commonwealth to build a thriving industry.”
