INDEPENDENCE, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2017) – FedEx has announced that it expects to add more than 50,000 seasonal positions throughout its network to help the holidays arrive this year, including hiring 1,100 people in Northern Kentucky at their facility in Independence.

These local openings include package handlers and other support positions, but there will be other opportunities during the holiday season and throughout the year. Pay for full time employees working p.m. shifts are $16.50 and $17.50 per hour for a.m. shifts and are eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits as well as vacation and holiday pay, after completion of an eligibility period. Prospective employees are also eligible for pay increases within the first six months of employment along with career advancement opportunities.

“FedEx offers its team members the chance to grow and reach their full potential thanks to excellent training, affordable medical benefits and a strong ‘promote from within’ culture,” said Bryce Newton, Northern Kentucky Hub senior manager. “It’s a great place to grow and advance your career, and these factors make FedEx one of the best and most admired companies to work for around the world.”

FedEx began work on a $150 million expansion in 2016, purchasing 80 acres of land that will add 355,000 square feet to its current distribution center. As of that time the facility had 116 full-time employees and 538 part-time, employing nearly 400,000 worldwide.

Last year more than one third of the package handlers hired at FedEx Ground facilities retained employment with the company at the conclusion of the holiday season.
