After a caucus meeting Wednesday, House Republican leadership announced Rep. David Osborne of Prospect will remain as Acting Speaker of the House during the 2018 legislative session.
Osborne, who was elected the Speaker Pro Tem when Republicans took the majority in the House last year, has been serving in the role of Speaker since the resignation of House Speaker Jeff Hoover in November.
The decision made Wednesday means the current House leadership team will remain the same and the vacant leadership position will not be filled until a formal election to elect a new Speaker.
Acting Speaker Osborne is also confirmed to speak at the Kentucky Chamber’s 2018 Legislative Preview Conference on the Leaders Panel alongside Senate President Robert Stivers, Senate Majority Leader Damon Thayer, and House Majority Leader Jonathan Shell.
The 2018 Kentucky Legislative Preview is a one-day gathering of the most prominent and influential policy-makers in Kentucky. The annual event is set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort in Lexington and will cover topics including a panel with legislative leaders and discussions on budget and tax reform, health care, education and workforce, criminal justice and much more.
