FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 23, 2018) – National Women’s History Month begins the first of March and the Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) is seeking nominations for women who are instrumental in helping other females achieve success. The women selected will be paid tribute to for their unselfish roles as mentors and role models. These women will be recognized with the “History Maker” award.  This award seeks to shed light on the importance of women supporting one another as they make their own mark on history.

“We know mentoring is associated with a wide range of positive outcomes for others”, said Cordelia Harbut, executive director of the Kentucky Commission on Women. “By recognizing women who have taken on this important role, we are encouraging others to do likewise.”

The Commission will spotlight the award winners during March with features on a variety of KCW distribution channels and news releases sent to media outlets throughout Kentucky. Winners will receive a plaque and be recognized at a future reception.

Nominations accepted until Feb. 28. Nomination forms are available at http://women.ky.gov/About/Pages/2017-Womens-History-Month.aspx
