Kentucky Retirement Systems announces KERS board election results

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 23, 2018) – Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS) has announced the results of the 2018 KERS Board election. KRS’ external auditor, Dean Dorton Allen Ford, PLLC, has certified that Sherry Lynn Kremer of Louisville and Raymond Campbell Connell of Lexington have been elected by the KERS membership to serve on the Board of Trustees.

Ms. Kremer and Mr. Connell will begin their four-year terms of office on April 1, 2018 and will be sworn in at the annual KRS Board meeting on April 19, 2018.

“Sherry and Raymond bring a wealth of experience to the Board, which oversees management of $17 billion in assets. As trustees, Sherry and Raymond will work with the full Board and executive staff to build the strength of the trust funds to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet all obligations, while helping members and beneficiaries achieve financial security in retirement.” said David Eager, Interim Executive Director of KRS.

Ms. Kremer has over 21 years of experience in state government, specializing in accounting and cash management. She is the Finance Division Manager at the Kentucky State Fair Board. In this position, Ms. Kremer is responsible for budgets of more than $45 million annually. Ms. Kremer received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance, Management and Marketing from Sullivan University.

For more than 10 years, Mr. Connell has been a Staff Attorney with the Finance and Administration Cabinet. He previously worked in Washington D.C. as an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service and several large law firms, acquiring expertise in complex financial transactions of large investment banks. Mr. Connell received his juris doctorate from the University of Kentucky.

At the same time, KRS wishes to thank outgoing Board members Mary Helen Peter and Vince Lang for their years of service and contributions to the Systems.
