GEORGETOWN, Ky. (March 28, 2018) – Georgetown Community Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Donna Davis has been named “CNO of the Year” by LifePoint Health, a leading healthcare company.

The award is given annually to one CNO within LifePoint’s network of more than 70 hospitals who best exemplifies the company’s core values of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness, inclusion, compassion and ethical and legal compliance, and who is committed to advancing quality patient care. The award honors the crucial role CNOs play in enhancing clinical care and advancing patient safety, while also understanding the financial and operational goals of the hospital.

“Donna is a highly effective nurse leader who cares deeply for her patients, her team and Georgetown Community Hospital as a whole,” said Michelle Watson, CNO of LifePoint’s Central Group, of which GCH is a part. “We are so proud to honor her with the 2017 CNO of the Year award for her extraordinary clinical leadership and tireless efforts to ensure the highest standards of quality care and patient safety.”

Davis has been instrumental in strengthening the hospital’s culture of safety during her tenure. She played an important role in GCH achieving heart failure accreditation from the American College of Cardiology and establishing the hospital’s affiliation with the UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network. With her leadership, the hospital achieved designation in 2017 as a Duke LifePoint Quality Affiliate and earned recognition as LifePoint’s 2017 companywide High Five Award recipient – the highest honor a LifePoint facility can receive.

“I could not be more proud of Donna, and I am so grateful for her leading the charge at Georgetown to improve quality and enhance patient safety,” said William Haugh, chief executive officer of GCH. “Her relentless pursuit of quality care and the heartfelt compassion and empathy she demonstrates is truly making a difference in the lives of our patients and is helping to make our community healthier.”

Davis began her nursing career at Bourbon Community Hospital, another LifePoint Health facility in Paris, Ky., in 1984, and in 2006, she was promoted to serve as the hospital’s CNO. In 2011, Davis transferred to Georgetown Community Hospital assuming the role of CNO.

Davis was one of the first two leaders at Georgetown Community Hospital – and among the first CNOs in all of LifePoint – to earn the esteemed Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential through the National Patient Safety Foundation. Additionally, she earned recognition from the Kentucky Hospital Association and the Kentucky Hospital Improvement Innovation Network as a “Patient Safety Hero” in 2017.

She holds a bachelor of science in nursing and an associate’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky.
