State Board of Elections welcomes new members

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 17, 2018) – The State Board of Elections has two new members, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced yesterday. Sherry Whitehouse and DeAnna Brangers joined the board this week.

“I am very pleased to welcome Member Whitehouse and Member Brangers,” said Grimes, chair of the State Board of Elections. “Their distinguished and varied backgrounds are a true asset to the Board. We are proud to have Sherry and DeAnna as partners in the administration of Kentucky’s elections.”

Whitehouse, a Democratic member, is the CEO of Whitehouse Solutions, LLC. She is a retired Army sergeant and serves as advocate for women veterans, leading Lady Vets Connect. Last year, Whitehouse was named Kentucky Female Veteran of the Year and inducted as a member of the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame. She will serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2018.

Brangers, a Republican member, is a community volunteer. She serves as vice chair of the Republican Party of Kentucky and is a member of the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service. She is a former member of the Jefferson County Board of Elections. Brangers will serve for a term expiring April 1, 2020.

The State Board of Elections consists of Secretary of State Grimes, who serves as chair and the chief election official, and six members appointed by the Governor from lists supplied by the two political parties in the Commonwealth.
