UofL Health-Medical Center Northeast acquires high-resolution X-ray system

Ideal for muscuoskeletal images and orthopedic care

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL Health – Medical Center Northeast has acquired and made available the EOSedge system from EOS imaging, a leader in 2D/3D orthopedic medical imaging and software solutions for 3D anatomical modeling and surgical planning. The hospital is the first facility in the state to offer this technology.

EOSedge combines cutting-edge X-ray detection technology, low dose radiation modulation, and a new open cabin design to deliver high-resolution images allowing physicians to make well-informed diagnoses and develop personalized treatment plans.

“Because of the speed of the exam, procedures do not have to be scheduled in advance and prior insurance authorization is not required. From a patient convenience standpoint, this is like getting an x-ray,” said Tim Rose, director of radiology for UofL Health ambulatory services and facility operations leader at UofL Health – Medical Center Northeast.

EOSedge modulates the radiation dose along the patient’s body. This technology offers reduced radiation exposure to minimize the long-term impact. In addition, the technology delivers high-resolution X-ray images allowing doctors to diagnose and evaluate musculoskeletal conditions.

EOSedge provides localized and full-body, weight-bearing, exams of adult and pediatric patients, allowing for undistorted images and precise measurements to guide treatment. Images from the EOSedge system can be developed into 3D models.
