CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations awards employee scholarships

42 health care employees share more than $84,000 in scholarships advancing their education selected for assistance

LEXINGTON, Ky. — CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations has awarded scholarships to 42 employees at CHI Saint Joseph Health facilities across Kentucky to advance their education in health care.

In total, $84,425 in scholarships were given to employees at Flaget Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph Berea, Saint Joseph East, Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph London, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling, and CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group.

The following employees were selected as a recipient of a scholarship:

Flaget Memorial Hospital

  • Netta Nusz, director of operations, who is pursuing a Master of Health Leadership at Western Governors University
  • Sara Thompson, nurse manager for Obstetrics and the Float Team, who is pursuing a Master of Health Leadership at Western Governors University
  • Laura Tyler, a respiratory therapist in Cardiopulmonary, who is pursuing a degree in Healthcare Leadership at the University of Louisville

Saint Joseph Berea

  • John Jones, physical therapy assistant, Rehabilitation, who is pursuing a degree in Business Administration at Eastern Kentucky University
  • Gwen Perch, RN, Employee Health, who is pursuing a Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner at Walden University

Saint Joseph East

  • Kelly Parrett, MLT in the Laboratory, who is studying Medical Laboratory Science at University of West Florida
  • Beverly Thomas, PCA, Float Pool, who is studying Nursing at Bluegrass Community & Technical College
  • Mary Hartley, Respiratory, who is pursuing a degree in Respiratory Care at MCTC-Rowan Campus
  • Natalie Hawes, research coordinator at the Cancer Care Center, who is pursuing a degree in Nursing at the University of Kentucky

Saint Joseph Hospital

  • Kristine Ehlert, chaplain and ethics coordinator, Spiritual Care, who is pursuing a degree in Bioethics at Loyola University Chicago
  • Melani Fosson, RN, Enterostomal Therapy, who is pursuing a WOC Experiential Pathway at Emory University, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing
  • Elizabeth (Liz) Lyons, RN, orthopedic nurse navigator, who is studying Ostomy Management at Wound Care Education Institute
  • Nolana McWhorter, certified pharmacy technician, who is studying Pre-Pharmacy at Eastern Kentucky University
  • John (Tyler) Wood, human resources business partner, who is working toward an MBA at Northern Kentucky University
  • Christina Brady, RN, manager, Stroke Program, who is pursuing an MSN Nurse Executive Leader at Northern Kentucky University
  • Minta Cowan, manager, Communications and Logistics, who is pursuing a Nursing degree at Bluegrass Community & Technical College
  • Jennifer Davis, PCA, CTVU, who is pursuing a degree in Nursing at Bluegrass Community & Technical College
  • Dana Durham, RN, CTVU, who is pursuing a Doctoral Nursing Practice at the University of Kentucky
  • Britnia Fraley, PCA, CCU, who is pursuing a degree in Nursing at MCTC
  • Sherry Newsome, CAHUC/float technician, Float Pool, who is pursuing an LPN at Bluegrass Community and Technical College
  • Marissa Stephens, certified pharmacy technician, who is pursuing a degree at the University of Kentucky
  • Patrick Thompson, tumor registrar with the Cancer Care Center, who is pursuing a Business degree with a concentration in Management at Indiana Tech University
  • Dusti Wilson, RN, OPS, who is pursuing a BSN-APRN at Western Governors University
  • Jessica Briscoe, RN, CTVU, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at Northern Kentucky University
  • Jennifer Lawill, intern-nursing technician, Medical-Surgical, who is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at Morehead State University
  • Victoria Cammack, stroke nurse navigator, who is pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing, FNP, at Northern Kentucky University
  • Anna Goodlett, manager, Electrophysiology Labs and Cardiac Rehabilitation, who is pursuing an MSN in Nursing at Walden University
  • Corie Lindsay, physical therapist tech, Rehabilitation, who is pursuing a degree in Nursing at the University of Kentucky
  • Tiffany Arms, care assistant – health unit coordinator in CTVU, who is studying Pre-PA studies at the University of Kentucky
  • Courtney Blankenship, RN, quality improvement coordinator in Cardiovascular Services, who is pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at Chamberlain University

Saint Joseph London

  • Stephen Caudill, RN, Float Pool, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of the Cumberlands
  • Mollie Harris, violence prevention coordinator with Healthy Communities, who is pursuing a degree in Social Work at Eastern Kentucky University
  • Brianna Highfield, monitor tech, Central Telemetry Monitoring, who is pursuing a degree in Social Work at Eastern Kentucky University
  • Pamela Macedonia, RN, charge nurse in Medical-Surgical, who is pursuing a degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Frontier Nursing University
  • Kristen Spitser, RN, ICU, who is pursuing an RN-BSN from Lincoln Memorial University

Saint Joseph Mount Sterling

  • Jarrett Robinson, manager, Cardiopulmonary, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care at Northern Kentucky University
  • Lauren Willoughby, phlebotomist, Laboratory, who is pursuing an LPN degree at Maysville Community and Technical College
  • Nora Young, employee health lead, who is pursuing an RN-BSN at University of the Cumberlands

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group

  • Sarah Adams, registered medical assistant, Orthopedics, London, who is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing at University of the Cumberlands
  • Morgan Parrish, RN, clinical lead, Neurology, Lexington, who is pursuing an MSN FNP at Northern Kentucky University
  • Rachel DeCoster, APRN, Winchester, who is pursuing a DNP at Vanderbilt University
  • Brandon Wides, RN, Cardiology, Lexington, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University

The scholarships were awarded to all 42 employees in September. Employees are eligible to apply for the scholarships after they have been with the organization for one year. As part of the application, the employees are asked to share how they will use their education to continue their call to serve at CHI Saint Joseph Health.
