Kentucky’s Hank the Horse advances to the semi-finals

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky’s Hank the Horse has moved on to the Semi-Finals in America’s Favorite Pet contest, with the next round of voting running through Thursday, October 20. Votes can be cast at americasfavpet.com/2022/hank-the-horse.

Hank, a Tennessee Walking Horse, is the organization’s first rescue namesake of For Hank’s Sake, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to harnessing the power and beauty of horses to inspire and encourage children of all ages. For Hank’s Sake has a steadfast commitment to rescuing neglected and unwanted horses, then providing them with loving care, rehabilitation, and retraining for useful purposes. For Hank’s Sake uses horses and equine related learning activities to bring love, hope, and healing to vulnerable populations. Hank is on a mission to empower communities for a brighter future.

America’s Favorite Pet, the world’s largest pet competition, is open to animals of all shapes, sizes, and species, and one pet will win $10,000 and pounce into the spotlight with a 2-page feature in InTouch Magazine.

Hank, the beloved gentle giant, who has become a household name in Kentucky and beyond, is a card-carrying member of multiple Public Libraries throughout the commonwealth, has visited with thousands of schoolchildren to promote the importance of youth literacy, taken his show on the road to raise awareness around food insecurity, has trotted alongside participants of AVOL Kentucky’s annual AIDS Walk, has been named a “Hometown Hero,” and spends countless hours each year campaigning for the Salvation Army. Hank has been the subject of dozens of news stories and even been awarded the Lawrenceburg Key to the City by Mayor Troy Young who declared a “For Hank’s Sake Day” in Lawrenceburg and Anderson County.

Hank was rescued by Tammi Regan in 2011. “Rescued horses like Hank are here to teach us that unloved doesn’t mean incapable of loving,” Regan said. “We can rise, we can learn, we can heal”. The promise Tammi made to Hank on the day she found him was to provide a lifetime of love, comfort and care for him and any other horses in need that found their way into her heart and barn. To date, Hank has inspired the rescue of more than 80 other horses.

If he wins the America’s Favorite Pet contest, Hank and his Mom Tammi, plan to reinvest the $10,000 honorarium into the communities they serve.
