Networking event to flourish relationships between farmers, buyers

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is partnering with the Kentucky Center for Ag and Rural Development (KCARD), the University of Kentucky MarketReady Program, and the Kentucky Horticulture Council (KHC) to bring together Kentucky agriculture producers and buyers for networking and market channel education.

“Kentucky farm families have an excellent opportunity to network with one another and develop relationships with potential buyers at Grower-Buyer MeetUps across the state,” Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles said. “Helping agriculture producers find new markets for their goods is one of the ways Kentucky agriculture continues to flourish.”

The Grower-Buyer MeetUp, set for Nov. 10 in Owensboro, is a free regional workshop focused on growers, buyers, and distributors that have operations in the western region of the Kentucky. The workshop allows producers and buyers an opportunity to network, finding new opportunities for both.

“Our MeetUp events help Kentucky specialty crop growers learn about market channels for their products and meet several different types of buyers in one location,” said Cindy Finneseth, KHC Executive Director.

“We’re looking forward to helping Kentucky farmers connect with buyers, and vice versa, to create meaningful partnerships in preparation for the 2023 season,” said Olivia Vogel, Local Food Project Coordinator with the Kentucky Center for Agriculture and Rural Development.
