Kentucky American Water announces new VP of Operations for Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky American Water has announced that Andy Lewis has been named vice president of operations for the company. In this role, Lewis will lead the company’s field operations, production, water quality, safety, and customer advocacy functions in all districts while driving a culture of safety, high performance, exceptional customer service and growth.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lewis started in the water utility industry 24 years ago as a utility worker for the City of Loveland, Ohio. From there transitioned to the Jefferson Regional Water Authority in Miamisburg, Ohio, as superintendent. Lewis joined American Water in 2006 as utility manager for American Water Military Services Group’s water and wastewater operations at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

He continued his service in the military services group for the next 12 years, taking on assignments with increasing responsibility that spanned water and wastewater operations, technical programs, capital support, and growth and development.

In 2018, Lewis was named senior director of operations for the north region of New Jersey American Water, and in 2019 assumed the same role for New Jersey American Water’s central operations.

Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and holds a Class III Operator-Water Supply certification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Lewis has three grown children and one granddaughter and will reside in Lexington with his wife.
