Eighth year of enrollment growth at Midway University

MIDWAY, Ky. — Midway University has once again reported record enrollment growth. Overall enrollment this fall has reached 1945, marking the eighth straight year of enrollment growth and record total enrollment. The University also has experienced record enrollment in its undergraduate class for the eighth consecutive year, with its largest-ever incoming class of 332 undergraduates (topping last year’s record class of 297). Campus housing is at capacity despite housing expansion for the fall 2023 semester.

In addition to record enrollment in the traditional undergraduate population, the University also noted a record all-time enrollment of 258 for its graduate programs, with most of the growth in the MBA program.

“Our continued growth seems to be fueled by students and their families valuing what we have to offer at Midway University,” said Dr. John P. Marsden, President. “Our career-focused degree programs include majors that lead to jobs. Most importantly, our affordability, safe, attractive campus, great location, and athletic opportunities fit what students and families desire.”

“The growth and excitement continue to build on our campus. Last fall, our board voted to move forward with renovating the top floor of our existing library to transform it into residential space to help keep up with our housing demand,” said Marsden. “Offering more housing on campus has been met with even more demand, and we are once again at capacity.”

Marsden added the library renovation is a three-phase project. The first phase, now completed, is the renovation and conversion of the top floor to housing. The second phase, which has accelerated, is to study, develop a plan, and fundraise for a new library. The final phase includes the full renovation of the first and lower floors of the library to add more housing and student study space.

With the Library Hall renovation, the University can house 445 students on campus.

“Many factors are making a positive impact on our growth. One area – international recruitment – has helped with our traditional undergraduate and graduate enrollment growth,” added Marsden. “We have students from 20 countries now earning their degrees at Midway University. And we continue to add programs of interest to our students such as Coaching and Sport Management, Computer Science, and Sport Marketing.”

Here are highlights of the University’s enrollment:

  • The University’s total enrollment of 1945 includes all evening and online undergraduate and graduate students and dual credit students.
  • Total traditional undergraduate enrollment is now at 852 students, an all-time high.
  • Graduate enrollment of 258 students is at an all-time high.
