MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University has been recognized by Forbes in its top ten list of online master’s degree programs in Information Technology.
In its rankings, Forbes noted that “students pursuing the online master of science in information systems from Murray State University, located in Murray, Kentucky, can choose from three concentrations, including a general track. Accredited by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the program offers multiple start dates and an accelerated format with summer coursework to fit busy schedules. Murray State charges the same tuition rates to in-state and out-of-state students, increasing affordability for online learners. Additionally, students can pay per course to help them budget their program’s costs.”

We have a small and tightly-knit group of faculty who are world-renowned researchers and experts on such topics as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Management, Project Management, Information Security, etc. Our faculty are very accessible to students if they need help with their courses or just would like to bounce their ideas off someone. Our rigorous STEM program attracts applications from bright professionals from the United States, India, Nepal, Germany, Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Venezuela, Nigeria and other countries. Earlier this year, the program was also recognized among the 2023 Best Online Programs in the Computer Information Technology (CIT) category by U.S. News and World Report.
“Our program has been progressively improving in quality since 2008 and it is encouraging to see the recognition coming from a reputed external group like Forbes,” said Department of Computer Science & Information Systems Chair Dr. Victor Raj. “Our courses are challenging and stimulating. Here’s what one of the students notes in the course evaluation for one of our classes: ‘The course content and objectives were very stimulating and I learned a great deal in this course. It was able to give a foundational understanding in just seven weeks and the information learned will be very useful.’ This is a feather in our cap that we and our students are going to be very proud to share.”
The University’s Master of Information Systems program is part of Murray State’s Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business, which is accredited by AACSB.
Murray State’s program is 30 credit hours, with its curriculum including courses that deal with data management, understanding and visualizing data, implementing data-driven scientific decision making and project management.
Within the program, concentrations exist in business analytics and information security. Career opportunities include, but are not limited to, data analytics, cyber and information security and software development.
Recent graduates are currently employed at Amazon, United Systems and Syngenta, among others.
