KCTCS earns 16 marketing and public relations awards

VERSAILLES, Ky. — The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and four of its colleges racked up 16 Medallion awards for outstanding achievement in design and communication from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations.

“It’s so exciting to see that our data-driven marketing programs rank among the very best in creativity, messaging, design and execution,” said Acting President Larry Ferguson. “I congratulate our system and campus teams because their exceptional marketing and recruitment efforts improve the lives of more Kentuckians.”

KCTCS won gold for four entries: postcard, TV/video ad single, TV/video ad series, and social media and online marketing campaign. The system captured four silver awards for a microsite/landing page, computer-generated illustration, radio ad, and digital ad, as well as one bronze award in the wild card category.

“We are honored to be recognized for our outstanding work by our peers in the two-year higher education sector,” said KCTCS Chief Marketing Officer Terri Giltner. “We have long been considered to have one of the premier community college marketing operations in the nation.” 

Hopkinsville Community College chalked up three awards: gold for notes and invitations, excellence in writing and a silver for special events/fundraising.

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College won two silver awards for a short-form promotional video and one in the wild card category.

Owensboro Community and Technical College won silver for print in the wild card category and bronze for a successful diversity, equity and inclusion campaign.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College won gold for interior signage/display and silver for logo design.

In a separate competition, Bernie Hale of Owensboro Community and Technical College won Communicator of the Year.

The regional competition included community and technical colleges from NCMPR District 2, representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.
