G&J Pepsi-Cola investing $10.6M in Maysville

FRANKFORT, Ky. — G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, the nation’s largest family-owned and operated Pepsi franchise bottler, received final state approval for economic development incentives in support of a new $10.6 million facility in Maysville, Ky.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, the company employs more than 1,600 people over 13 different locations in Ohio and Kentucky. G&J plans a new 124,000-s.f. warehouse in Maysville that will run 12 routes daily and distribute 4.5 million cases of beverage across Ohio and Kentucky every year.

According to information presented at the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority’s (KEDFA) March board meeting, the company is creating this new facility due to growing demands.

KEDFA granted G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers Inc. over $1 million in decreased state tax payments in $75,000 annually increments over the next 15 years, as long as G&J can maintain job and employee targets set by The Kentucky Business Investment (KBI) program.

They will be required to keep at least 45 jobs at an average hourly wage of $30, including benefits, over this 15-year period. The special conditions listed in KEDFA’s agenda book state they will be required to keep a statewide employment of 336. G&J has distribution centers in Harrodsburg, Ky., as well as Hamilton, Ripley, Wilmington, Athens, Chillicothe and Zanesville, Ohio.

Since the company received preliminary approval in March 2022, the total investment, eligible costs and state wage assessment have been updated, but all other aspects of the project remain the same.
