The Benton Tribune-Courier reports that construction work on a 1,200-foot lock on the Tennessee River will bring some 462 jobs to the area, with wages of up to $23 per hour. The work is being handled by Thalle Construction Co., of North Carolina, which has said it will attempt to hire locally and work with local suppliers and subcontractors. The project is estimated to take approximately 27 months to complete.
