Automotive parts supplier GECOM is laying off employees at its manufacturing plant in Frankfort as the company continues to try to reduce costs in the face of decreased product demand. The company closed its Winchester, Ky., facility earlier this year and has also reduced operations in Detroit. According to papers filed with the state, the Frankfort layoffs will affect 160 workers.
