Hilltop-Ingleside Mine LLC has leased approximately 28 acres in Mason County from East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) with plans to construct an underground limestone mine operation. EKPC will then purchase the crushed limestone for use at its nearby Spurlock Station. Hilltop-Ingleside expects operations to begin in 2010, with 30 to 40 employees, who will have an average annual salary of $50,000. Hilltop-Ingleside, a private company headquartered in Cincinnati, also operates limestone production facilities in Pendleton County and Meade County.
