The City of Franklin has received a $1 million grant from the federal government to install a fiber-optic loop around the city. Economic development officials say having the fiber-optic line – which will be only for industrial and commercial users – will boost the community’s ability to compete for telecommunications companies and high-tech businesses and will also help existing companies expand their capabilities.
