Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin launches career skills development program with Louisville-based Education Associates

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 17, 2018) — Products created by Education Associates, developer of Project Discovery, the leading hands-on career education and life skills program solution for every learner, will be used by Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin to assist its area learners, including those with special needs, in the development of skills that range from restaurant table service and retailing, to problem solving and self-esteem.

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin Inc. is the largest of more than 162 Goodwill organizations in the world. Providing services since 1919, its 6,100 employees work in nearly 100 locations throughout its 23-county, 12,000-square-mile territory in southeastern Wisconsin and metropolitan Chicago.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin,” says Tim Hagan, president of Louisville-based Education Associates. “Our Project Discovery program solutions will provide every single adult learner within the organization the career and life skills he or she needs for a productive and rewarding future.”

Goodwill of Southeastern Wisconsin’s implementation of Education Associates’ Project Discovery career development and life skills programs will feature evidence-based practices such as its specialized video modeling of job skills, visual schedules, and assessments.

The program was selected because if offers a ‘learn by doing’ approach in which adult learners actually learn and practice real job skills for real life jobs. The easily implemented series for both Goodwill staff and clients will provide critical skillsets and knowledge which they can apply immediately, and which will allow them to live independently.

From Project Discovery’s Caregiver module, where learners understand how to care for an ill or aging family member or nursing home residents to its Basic First Aid in which they learn the steps needed to aid themselves and others with minor injuries and medical emergencies, to the social skills series which provides learners with the skills necessary to be successful in everyday life, the Project Discovery program will provide the job and life skills learners require and deserve.
