FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 24, 2018) — Officials will hold a re-opening ceremony Friday at the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park Amphitheater.

The amphitheater was closed in January 2018 due to safety concerns. Cabinet officials and local leaders immediately began collaborating on plans to rehabilitate the facility with the goal for repairs to be completed by the start of the production season.

In April 2018, the Department of State Parks agreed to lease the amphitheater to the city of Prestonsburg. The strategic partnership accelerated the opportunity for renovations at the amphitheater. The lease is for an initial term of five years and includes an option to renew two additional five-year terms.

The 2018 production season begins the first full week of June.
