Lexington Area MPO seeks public input for the 25 year transportation plan

LEXINGTON Ky. (June 1, 2018) – Lexington’s Area Metro Planning Organization is updating their 25-year transportation plan and is seeking public input about transportation needs and priorities for the future.

The survey only takes five minutes to complete and is available at surveymonkey.com/r/ConnectingOurRegion. Citizens can also find a link to the survey, along with information about transportation master plan, current transportation statistics and more at lexareampo.org.

The survey will provide insight to the MPO on the public’s transportation desires, concerns and priorities as the organization develops a long-range transportation plan for the region. Updated every five years, this plan sets forth transportation policy and investment strategies for the MPO region over the next 25 years and is the mechanism for prioritizing and allocating federal transportation funds.

The MPO represents Fayette and Jessamine counties and consists of representatives from local, state and federal governments, transit agencies, transportation providers and other stakeholders that work in coordination on transportation issues. A top priority is to ensure that expenditures on transportation projects and programs are based on public input.

A summary of survey results, draft reports and a draft plan will be posted to the MPO website as the plan progresses. Additional opportunities for public input will occur prior to plan adoption. Questions or comments can be addressed to the Metropolitan Planning Organization at lexareampo.org or (859) 258-3605.
