Madisonville Community College opens Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (June 11, 2018) – Former Gov. Steve Beshear was in Madisonville last week to officially open the Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education on the campus of Madisonville Community College (MCC). Over 175 community members, college supporters and friends were present for the celebration and to honor Gov. Beshear’s support of education in the commonwealth.

Local funds exceeding $5 million dollars for the project were raised by the college and the community through the BuildSmart capital campaign. The Beshear Center houses all the programs of the Murray State University – Madisonville Regional Campus, the MCC Bookstore, education programs for MCC, and provides a state-of-the-art learning environment for adult students.

In addition to Gov. Beshear, speakers for the event included Dr. Cindy Kelley, president of Madisonville Community College; Madisonville Mayor David Jackson; Hopkins County judge-executive Donald Carroll; Baptist Health-Madisonville President Rob Ramey; Steve Cox, Hancock Bank and Trust president and Madisonville College Foundation chair; Dr. Judy Rhoads, president emeritus of Madisonville Community College; and Dr. Bob Davies, president of Murray State University.
