PriceWeber wins third Telly Award for KORBEL TV spot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 21, 2018) – Louisville-based PriceWeber advertising agency has received a Bronze Telly in the 2018 Telly Awards, the premier award program honoring the best television and video work in the multi-screen era. The full-service digital advertising agency won for a TV spot titled “Polar Splash produced for KORBEL California Champagne.

This is the third Telly Award for the agency since 2016 when it received Telly Awards for two TV spots, Marathon Runner and Mountain Climber, also produced for KORBEL California Champagne. Marathon Runner won a Silver Telly – the highest honor at the time – and Mountain Climber was awarded a Bronze Telly.

This year’s award winner, Polar Splash, is a continuation of KORBEL California Champagne’s “Celebrate It All” ad series that pushes the boundaries of typical advertising creative in the champagne and sparkling-wine category. The campaign seeks to inspire consumers to be spontaneous and joyful – celebrating all of life’s moments. Polar Splash hinges on a comedic misdirect and features an assumed Olympic-level swimmer preparing to compete, only to reveal that he and his friends are participating in a polar splash event and jumping into cold water in winter weather, then toasting the adventure with KORBEL.

“Our agency wanted to develop a spot that accurately captured the season, but we wanted to approach it in a way that pushed beyond typical holiday settings,” said Robert Trinkle, vice president and account director at PriceWeber. “We thought about where the winter weather could take us and what occasions capture the celebratory spirit of KORBEL’s brand. That’s when we fell in love with the idea of a polar splash.”

Polar Splash ran on NBC, Animal Planet, Bravo, E!, Comedy Central, the Food Network, HGTV, OWN, TLC and VH1 during the 2017 holiday season. The spot was produced and directed by Trinkle and Will Cauthen, executive creative director.

The 2018 Telly Awards were restructured to encompass more types of video work, including branded content, social video and animation, as well as work where technology plays an important role in storytelling. The Awards were decided by a panel of 200 industry leaders recruited to the new Telly Awards Judging Council. These judges reviewed and scored over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five countries. PriceWeber is the only Louisville-based agency to win a 2018 Telly Award in the Regional TV category.

This year, PriceWeber is celebrating a 50-year relationship with Brown-Forman Corp. PriceWeber is the agency-of-record for Early Times Kentucky Whisky, Coopers’ Craft Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, KORBEL California Champagne and Canadian Mist Canadian Whisky.
