CVG sets new all-time local passenger record

Cargo growth continues strong trend

ERLANGER, Ky. (June 26, 2018) — The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) set a new monthly all-time local passenger record in May. Traffic was up 20 percent year-over-year with more than 387,926 originating passengers, surpassing the previous record of 378,549 in June 2000.

“New destinations, additional frequencies and lower airfares are all contributing to the overall growth we’re seeing at CVG,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “We’re embracing what’s next for our local travelers, and are pleased to offer the most nonstop destinations and lowest fares in the region.”

Eight domestic destinations were recently added, including San Jose, San Antonio, Austin, Sarasota, Phoenix, Charleston, Raleigh/Durham and Jacksonville. Two more launch the remainder of the year.

Three international destinations were added in the last month including Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Bahama Island; and new low-cost service to Europe began on May 10th with WOW air.

Cargo volume continues to drive significant growth at CVG. In May, cargo tonnage grew by more than 22 percent with 108,109 tons; the second highest volume in a single month ever recorded at CVG. CVG now ranks as the 8th largest cargo airport in North America.
