Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 27, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Brian T. Evans Jr. has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Employers’ Mutual Insurance Authority. 

  • Brian T. Evans Jr., of Lexington, is the owner and president of BT Investment, Inc. He will serve for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2021.

The Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance Authority (KEMI), which was formed by the Kentucky General Assembly, is a self-supporting provider of workers’ compensation insurance for Kentucky businesses. Its Board of Directors includes seven at-large members appointed by the Governor.

Lisa Johnson, Megan Hanser, Margaret Hazlette, and Justin “Jay” Miller have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Board of Social Work.

  • Lisa Johnson, of Lexington, is an attorney. She will represent citizens at-large and serve for a term expiring June 21, 2022.
  • Megan Hanser, of Lexington, is a social worker and behavioral therapist. She will represent Certified Social Workers and serve for a term expiring June 21, 2022.
  • Margaret Hazlette, of Nicholasville, is a licensed clinical social worker. She will represent Licensed Clinical Social Workers and serve for a term expiring June 21, 2021.
  • Dr. Justin “Jay” Miller, of Louisville, is a professor of social work. He will represent Certified Social Workers and serve for a term expiring June 21, 2022.

The Kentucky Board of Social Work is made up of seven gubernatorial appointees. The Board evaluates and approves the qualifications of applicants for licensure as certified social workers within the Commonwealth.

Joy Kiser and Geraldine Gordon-Brown have been appointed as members of the Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. 

  • Joy Kiser, of Frankfort, is assistant director of business operations for the Legislative Research Commission. She will represent the Kentucky Chapter of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and serve for a term expiring July 1, 2021.
  • Geraldine Gordon-Brown, of Louisville, is retired from the Kentucky Client Assistance Program. She will represent the Kentucky Association of the Deaf and serve for a term expiring July 1, 2021.

The Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing advises the Governor and the General Assembly on policies and programs that will enhance the quality and coordination of services for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Jason Wayne Marion has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Board of Certification of Wastewater System Operators.

  • Dr. Jason Wayne Marion, of Richmond, is an associate professor of environmental health at Eastern Kentucky University. He will represent faculty members of a university whose major field is related to wastewater treatment, and will serve for a term expiring Aug. 31, 2021.

The Kentucky Board of Certification of Wastewater System Operators consists of eight gubernatorial appointees and serves in an advisory capacity to the Energy and Environment Cabinet on the capacity of wastewater treatment plant operators.
